Ștefan Vodă

Ștefan Vodă (Romanian pronunciation: [ˈʃtefan ˈvodə] ⓘ) is a city and the administrative centre of Ștefan Vodă District, Moldova.

Ștefan Vodă appeared on a map of the region for the first time in 1884, and was then resettled in 1909 as a small [[Bessarabia Germanspula 1990).

According to the 2014 census, the population of Ștefan Vodă amounted to 7,078 inhabitants, a decrease compared to the previous census in 2004, when 7,768 inhabitants were registered.

In 2013, the Constitutional Court of Moldova interpreted that Article 13 of the constitution is superseded by the Declaration of Independence,[6] thus giving official status to the name Romanian.
