Šlapanice consists of five municipal parts (in brackets population according to the 2021 census):[2] Šlapanice is located about 4 kilometres (2 mi) east of Brno.

It produces valves for the oil, petrochemical and energy industries.

[7] The main landmark of Šlapanice is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.

It was originally a medieval Gothic church, rebuilt in the Baroque style in the mid-18th century.
