1071 Brita

It was discovered on 3 March 1924, by Soviet astronomer Vladimir Albitsky at the Simeiz Observatory on the Crimean peninsula.

[15] In the SMASS classification, Brita is an Xk-subtype that transitions from the X-type to the rare K-type asteroids.

[12][13] According to the surveys carried out by the Infrared Astronomical Satellite IRAS, the Japanese Akari satellite and the NEOWISE mission of NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, Brita measures between 39.45 and 64.23 kilometers in diameter and its surface has an albedo between 0.03 and 0.07.

[4][5][7][8][9][10] The Collaborative Asteroid Lightcurve Link derives an albedo of 0.0486 and a diameter of 50.14 kilometers based on an absolute magnitude of 10.4.

[6] This minor planet was named after the island of Great Britain, where the discovering observatory's 1-meter telescope was built.
