1922–23 RPI Engineers men's ice hockey season

Not only were the Panthers playing their first varsity season, but the team had only been able to practice for a few days ahead of the match.

Even with those shortcomings, Middlebury gave RPI a fight and it wasn't until the second half that the Cherry and White got on the scoresheet.

Reuther recorded a hat-trick in the match, single-handedly surpassing the team's scoring totals from '22 and gave the Engineers their first win in almost two calendar years.

In the interim the Engineers practiced as much as they could so by the time they hit the ice in West Point the team looked bit more composed than they did in January.

However, it was not enough for the team's head coach as Leroy Clark stepped down from his post after the season.
