1928 Holborn by-election

The by-election was held due to the elevation to the peerage of the incumbent Conservative MP, James Remnant.

[2] In the event they were unable to find a suitable candidate, and Bevan was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) For Holborn[3] with a majority of 4,127.

[4] 52 year-old local man Thomas Edward Morton stood as the Liberal candidate.

[6] After winning the by-election, Bevan successfully defended the seat at the following year's general election with an increased majority of 5,563 votes.
