The 1942 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships were organized by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and served as the national championships in outdoor track and field for the United States.

The men's edition was held at Downing Stadium in New York City, New York, and it took place 19–20 June.

The women's meet was held separately at Carey Stadium in Ocean City, New Jersey, on 4 July.

At the men's championships, only the pole vault and weight throw meet records were broken due to World War II.
