1960 Louisiana lieutenant gubernatorial election

Lether Edward Frazar Democratic Taddy Aycock Democratic The 1960 Louisiana lieutenant gubernatorial election was held on 19 April 1960 in order to elect the lieutenant governor of Louisiana.

Democratic nominee and former Speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives Taddy Aycock defeated Republican nominee Clark C. Boardman and States Rights nominee Vaughn L. Phelps.

The Democratic primary election was held on 5 December 1959, but as no candidate received a majority of the votes cast, a runoff was held in January 1960 between incumbent mayor of Alexandria William George Bowdon Jr. and former Speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives Taddy Aycock.

[1] On election day, 19 April 1960, Democratic nominee Taddy Aycock won the election by a margin of 324,235 votes against his foremost opponent Republican nominee Clark C. Boardman, thereby retaining Democratic control over the office of lieutenant governor.

Aycock was sworn in as the 45th lieutenant governor of Louisiana on 10 May 1960.
