1962 Glasgow Woodside by-election

The 1962 Glasgow Woodside by-election was held on 22 November 1962 when the incumbent Unionist MP, William Grant was appointed as Lord Justice Clerk.

It was won by the Labour candidate Neil Carmichael, who retained the gain in the subsequent General Election.

Carmichael predicted he would win by about 2,000 votes, while the Liberal candidate Jack House predicted that the seat would be won by either Carmichael or himself with Glen coming third.
