The New Year Honours 1975 were appointments in many of the Commonwealth realms of Queen Elizabeth II to various orders and honours to reward and highlight good works by citizens of those countries.
They were announced on 1 January 1975 to celebrate the year passed and mark the beginning of 1975.
[1] These countries include Papua New Guinea,[2] New Zealand,[3] Mauritius,[4] Fiji,[5] and Grenada.
"Member (fourth class)" was renamed "Lieutenant" (LVO) from the 1985 New Year Honours onwards.
Honours in respect of Papua New Guinea were awarded on the advice of Her Majesty's Australian Ministers.
