The 1978 African Cup of Nations Final was a football match that took place on Thursday, 16 March 1978, at the Accra Sports Stadium in Accra, Ghana,[1] to determine the winner of the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana defeated Uganda 2–0 with two goals from Opoku Afriyie to win their third African Cup.
Ghana's road to the finals started in group A with national opponent Burkina Faso (then known as Upper Volta), Nigeria and Zambia.
Ghana meet Tunisia in the semi finals since the tournament was of 8 participants and won the game by a 1-0, a goal scored by Abdul Razak.
In the finals, Opoku Afriyie gave Ghana the 2 goals victory over Uganda to be crown as the champions of the competition.
