The 1982 FIVB Women's World Championship was the ninth edition of the tournament, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB.

It was held from 12 to 25 September 1982 at six venues in six different cities in Peru.

The finals were held at the Coliseo Amauta in Lima, Peru.

The teams are seeded based on their final ranking at the 1978 FIVB Women's World Championship.
