1SWASP J093010.78+533859.5 is a quintuple star system located in the constellation Ursa Major.
[1][2] Initially, two stars were discovered that were so close together that their atmospheres touched each other.
A second pair of stars was discovered about 13 billion miles away, as well as a fifth star located about 1.3 billion miles from the second pair.
The five stars are connected by gravity and therefore do not form separate systems.
[3][4] The star system is located approximately 138 light years from Earth, and was discovered using data from the "Super Wide Angle Search for Planets" (SuperWASP) project in the Canary Islands.
