2001–02 Thai League

The bottom three clubs would be relegated and three teams promoted from the Thailand Division 1 League.

The league was restructured, to be played between October 2001 and April 2002.

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration withdrew from the league due to a lack of money.

Rattana Bundit was formed off the back of BMA and took their place in the Premier League.

This was the second season running that a club would withdraw following on from Thai Farmers Bank Osotsapa won their first Queen's Cup trophy.
