2003 Miyagi earthquakes

There were two major earthquakes in 2003 in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.

[2] More than 11,000 buildings were affected, causing an estimated $195.4 million in damage.

[3] The event registered 7.1 on the Japan Meteorological Agency magnitude scale.

[4] The quake injured 174 people and caused $97.3 million in damage.

[5] It had a maximum Modified Mercalli intensity of IX (Violent), based on damage to a road about 1 km (0.62 mi) from the epicenter.
