2003 Yalengga raid

The Yalengga Raid was a military raid launched by Kopassus to eliminate and defeating the OPM on Jayawijaya Regency and also halted the OPM attacks on Wamena, the raid resulted in killing the most wanted OPM commander Yustinus Murib and seizure of most of the OPM's weapons and documents.

[1] On 6 November 2003 in the 5 A.M the Indonesian forces led by Colonel Gustav Agus Irianto started the military raid on subdistrict Yalengga, Jayawijaya Regency.

[2][3] The Indonesian forces besieged the Yalengga district and forced the OPM companies to started the assault, however the Indonesian forces was success to delayed the OPM attacks to Wamena.

[5] After the Raid the body of Yustinus Murib were beheaded and the corpse of his bodies were captured by the Indonesian forces as a trophy.

The Indonesian government claimed the raid benefitted the civilians who were being killed by the OPM.
