[5] As the leader of the Congress Legislature Party, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was invited to form the Government by Governor Surjit Singh Barnala.

Expectedly, the Government lasted the full term of 5 years and the tenure of the Legislative Assembly was due to expire on 30 May 2009.

[6] On the recommendation of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Governor Surjit Singh Barnala dissolved the 11th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on November 14, 2003.

[7] The tenure of the 11th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly was originally set to end on November 9, 2004.

However, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu recommended a premature dissolution, in accordance with a provision of the Constitution of India, to facilitate early elections and seek a fresh mandate.
