Blackpool set a new club record of twelve consecutive victories, carrying over from the end of the previous season, with 0–1 and 1–0 results over Leicester City and Huddersfield Town, respectively.
At the end of the season, manager Simon Grayson released eleven players, most of whom had not featured in the first team this season, and on 30 May he confirmed that he wanted to sign at least six new players.
