2009–10 Dallas Stars season

The Stars introduce Joe Nieuwendyk as their new general manager, replacing Les Jackson and Brett Hull, who were both reassigned within the organization.

They received a bye in the first round of the 2010 Kelly Cup Playoffs before sweeping the Utah Grizzlies in the conference semifinals and the Stockton Thunder in six games to win the National Conference Championship to advance to their 3rd Kelly Cup Finals since joining the league in 2003.

On April 15, 2009, the Central Hockey League announced an expansion team for Allen, Texas, to begin play in the 2009–10 season.

The Rapid City Rush beat the Americans in game six of the 2010 Ray Miron President's Cup Finals.
