The final was played between Hamburg and Amsterdam at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands.

Hamburg defeated Amsterdam 2–1 on penalty strokes (2–2 after extra time) to win a record third title.

A total of 24 teams from 12 of the 45 EHF member associations participated in the 2011–12 Euro Hockey League.

If the score remained tied, the match went to extra time with the silver goal rule being enforced.

Matches that remained tied at the end of extra time were settled by a penalty shoot-out.
