Notable events of the season included coach Mike D'Antoni's resignation,[1] the surge in popularity of 23-year-old point guard Jeremy Lin during a seven-game winning streak (Linsanity), and the Knicks winning their first playoff game since 2001 against the Miami Heat, snapping an NBA-record 13-game playoff losing streak.

After a lack-luster start to the season where the Knicks had 8 wins and 13 losses in their first 21 games, Jeremy Lin burst on the scene.

Lin closed the February 14th game against Toronto with a game-winning three-pointer that left 0.5 seconds on the clock.

However, when Carmelo Anthony returned from injury in late February, the Knicks hot streak ended.
