On 29 May 2013, the German Football League (DFL) announced that MSV Duisburg would not get a license for the 2013–14 season as the club could not prove their financial capability.

[1] Arminia Bielefeld, who finished 16th, faced SV Darmstadt 98, the third-placed 2013–14 3.

The winner on aggregate score after both matches earned a spot in the 2014–15 2.
