In two victories over preseason favorite Toledo and Miami, Tava averaged 23.5 points per game and made 16 of 17 field goals (94.1%).

[9] Senior center Shayne Whittington was named the MAC West Division Player of the Week on January 27, 2014.

Whittington averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in two wins over Akron and Miami that moved WMU into a tie for first place in the MAC.
