The race was held on Saturday, May 25, 2013, in Concord, North Carolina at Charlotte Motor Speedway, a 1.5 miles (2.4 km) permanent quad-oval.

The speedway was built in 1959 by Bruton Smith and is considered the home track for NASCAR with many race teams based in the Charlotte metropolitan area.

[2] Joey Logano of Penske Racing would set the fastest time in the open test, with a lap of 30.295 and an average speed of 178.247 miles per hour (286.861 km/h).
