2014 Australian Open – Women's singles

Li Na defeated Dominika Cibulková in the final, 7–6(7–3), 6–0 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2014 Australian Open.

Li saved a match point en route to the title, in the third round against Lucie Šafářová, and became the first Asian champion at the Australian Open.

[1][2] Victoria Azarenka was the two-time defending champion and was attempting to become the first woman to win three consecutive Australian Open singles titles since Martina Hingis in 1999, but was defeated by Agnieszka Radwańska in the quarterfinals.

She lost to Ana Ivanovic in the fourth round, ending her 25-match winning streak dating back to the 2013 US Open.

[4] Eugenie Bouchard became the first Canadian to reach a major semifinal since Carling Bassett-Seguso at the 1984 US Open.
