The Catamounts, led by sixth-year head coach John Becker, played their home games at Patrick Gym in Burlington, Vermont and were members of the America East Conference.

As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

They defeated Maine and New Hampshire to advance to the championship game of the America East tournament where they lost to Stony Brook.

There, they defeated Western Carolina and Seattle to advance to the semifinals before losing to Nevada.
