The Gators competed in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

They played their home games at Alfred A. McKethan Stadium on the university's Gainesville, Florida campus.

The Gators entered the season hoping to build upon their performance in the 2015 NCAA tournament, where they finished third at the 2015 College World Series after two losses to the Virginia Cavaliers.
