Source: BBC Sport On 16 October 2017, the draw for the first round took place with AFC Wimbledon hosting Lincoln City.

The draw was seeded based on the league finishing positions for clubs in the previous season and regionalised on a north-south basis.

Meaning for the first time in 7 years entering the competition Wimbledon had been drawn at home.

Each club will play each other once, either home or away, with the top 2 teams from each group progressing to the knock-out stages.
