The men's javelin throw at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics is being held at the Olympic Stadium on 10 and 12 August.
Five throws into the first round, Johannes Vetter (GER) threw the winner, 89.89 m (294 ft 10 in).
At the end of the round, his teammate Thomas Röhler threw 87.08 m to move into second place.
Both Czech athletes are coached by world record holder Jan Železný.
