The Gators competed in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

They played their home games at Alfred A. McKethan Stadium on the university's Gainesville, Florida campus.

The Gators entered the season as the defending national champions, having defeated LSU two games to none in the championship series of the 2017 College World Series.
