Contested over 500 laps on the 0.533 miles (0.858 km) concrete short track, it was the eighth race of the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.

Despite its short length, Bristol is among the most popular tracks on the NASCAR schedule because of its distinct features, which include extraordinarily steep banking, an all concrete surface, two pit roads, and stadium-like seating.

[13] Joey Logano was the fastest in the final practice session with a time of 14.894 seconds and a speed of 128.830 mph (207.332 km/h).
