[87][88] Hull opened the season with 3 wins which equalled the record that has stood since 28 August 1948 when they beat Mansfield Town 3–0 in Division Three North.

The first action was in the third-minute when Fleetwood's Ched Evans collided with Callum Elder and after a long delay was stretchered off the field.
