2021–22 Dallas Mavericks season

For the first time since 2007–08, Rick Carlisle would not be the head coach of the Mavericks, as he announced his departure from the team on June 17, 2021.

[5] The Mavericks then upset the top-seeded Phoenix Suns in seven games in the conference semifinals, but lost to the eventual champion Golden State Warriors in five games in the conference finals.
