The twelve national women's teams competing in Canada were:[2][3] • Fiji returned to the 2021–22 series after their absence since the Dubai II event.

• Japan was an invited team for the tournament and made their first appearance on the World Series since the 2020 Sydney Sevens.

• New Zealand also returned to the World Series for the first time since the 2020 Sydney Sevens,[4] an absence of 2 years, 87 days.

• Mexico was invited to replace Russia who were banned by World Rugby.
