In American television in 2022, notable events included television show debuts, finales, and cancellations; channel launches, closures, and re-brandings; stations changing or adding their network affiliations; information on controversies, business transactions, and carriage disputes; and deaths of those who made various contributions to the medium.
The following shows will return with new episodes after being canceled or ended their run previously: A list of programs (current or canceled) that have accumulated enough episodes (between 65 and 100) or seasons (three or more) to be eligible for off-network syndication and/or basic cable runs.
By 2017, the City Colleges sold WYCC's spectrum during the FCC spectrum auction for nearly $16 million, intending for it to sign off by the end of 2017, but was pressured to sell to another party to preserve its format.
Window to the World re-acquired the station's license by March 2018, entering into a technical channel sharing agreement with WTTW to keep WYCC alive, but did not rehire any WYCC staff, and soon reduced it to an unpublicized passthrough of the FNX Native American-focused network.
In technicality, the launch of World Channel on WYCC's former spectrum share as WTTW-DT5 replaced it.
