The Mavericks improved upon their 38–44 record from the 2022-2023 season, qualified for the playoffs, and won the Southwest Division title.

The Mavericks defeated the Los Angeles Clippers and the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder each in six games to advance to their second Western Conference Finals appearance in three seasons.
