The Monarchs were led by 11th-year head coach Jeff Jones for the first 9 games of the season before he stepped away from the team for health reasons on December 20.

They played their home games at Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia as second-year members of the Sun Belt Conference.

The Monarchs would lose to Texas State in the second round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament.
