Following the results, the Conservatives lost the council to no overall control for the first time in 16 years.
[6][7] The Conservative leader of the council prior to the election, Rob Bird, lost his seat.
[8] Liberal Democrat councillor Richard Stanley was appointed leader of the council at the subsequent annual council meeting on 17 May 2023 with the support of all parties except the Conservatives.
