[2] The Conservatives and Independent Alliance formed a coalition after the election; with 22 councillors they had exactly half the seats on the council.

The new Conservative mayor, James Lark, used his casting vote in favour of Boughton remaining leader.

Independent Alliance leader Mike Taylor was made the cabinet member for planning.
