2024 Copa Libertadores

The competition began on 6 February and ended on 30 November 2024,[1] with the final played at Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This edition was marred by the death of Juan Izquierdo, a Uruguayan footballer who was playing for Nacional, during a round of 16 match against São Paulo.

Izquierdo collapsed on the pitch due to cardiac arrhythmia and passed away at the hospital five days after the incident.

[5] The following 47 teams from the 10 CONMEBOL member associations qualified for the tournament: The entry stage is determined as follows:[6] The schedule of the competition is as follows:[18][19] The draw for the qualifying stages was held on 19 December 2023, 12:00 PYST (UTC−3), at the CONMEBOL Convention Centre in Luque, Paraguay.

If tied on aggregate, extra time would not be played, and a penalty shoot-out would be used to determine the winner (Regulations Article 2.4.3).

The third-placed teams of each group entered the knockout round play-offs of the 2024 Copa Sudamericana.
