[4] According to electoral regulations, in order to qualify for the election, candidates were required to secure support from 24 seats in the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD).

PKB and Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle had already agreed to back Ono Surono as Governor with Acep Adang Ruhiat as his running mate on 15 August 2024.

Hasto however tasked Ono Surono to take part in the leadership of the West Java Regional House of Representatives as well as being the campaign manager for Jeje-Ronal.

Golkar appointed the former Deputy Regent of Sumedang who is also the son of Persib Bandung Manager Umuh Muchtar, namely Erwan Setiawan, as a candidate for Vice Governor with Dedi Mulyadi.
