The season is set to run from 31 March 2025 to 8 November 2025, not including play-off matches.
[1] In the 2024 Norwegian First Division, Vålerenga and Bryne were promoted to the 2025 Eliteserien, while Levanger and Sandnes Ulf were relegated to the 2025 Norwegian Second Division.
Lillestrøm and Odd were relegated from the 2024 Eliteserien, while Hødd and Skeid were promoted from the 2024 Norwegian Second Division.
The teams from third to sixth place will take part in the promotion play-offs; these are single leg knockout matches.
The winner of the second round will meet the third-placed team on away ground.
