It serves as the provincial men's curling championship for Southern Ontario.

The winning Sam Mooibroek rink will represent Ontario at the 2025 Montana's Brier, Canada's national men's curling championship in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Both events are held together in non-Winter Olympic years.

Cobourg was chosen as the host community in June 2024.
