On 17 February 1993, Seán Fallon (FF) was proposed as Cathaoirleach by G. V. Wright (FF) and seconded by Jan O'Sullivan (Lab).

He was elected without a division, with David Norris (Ind) dissenting.

[7] On 27 November 1996, Liam T. Cosgrave (FG) was proposed as Cathaoirleach by Maurice Manning (FG) and seconded by Jan O'Sullivan (Lab).
