21st South African Parliament

The 21st South African Parliament was the twenty-first Parliament of South Africa to convene since the unification of South Africa in 1910, the ninth to convene since the adoption of the republican constitution in 1961, and the last before the introduction of universal suffrage in 1994.

It was elected in the 1989 South African general election and consisted of three chambers: the House of Assembly, consisting of 166 members elected by the White community, the House of Representatives, consisting of 85 members elected by the Coloured community, and the House of Delegates, consisting of 45 members elected by the Indian community.
