It gave a well-defined, slightly longer-than-average rotation period of 24.84±0.01 hours with a brightness variation of 0.47 in magnitude (U=3-).
[7] According to the surveys carried out by the Infrared Astronomical Satellite IRAS, the Japanese Akari satellite, and NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer with its subsequent NEOWISE mission, Hurukawa measures between 21.3 and 27.8 kilometers in diameter and its surface has an untypically low albedo between 0.10 and 0.17.
