71st British Academy Film Awards

The 71st British Academy Film Awards, more commonly known as the BAFTAs, were held on 18 February 2018 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, honouring the best national and foreign films of 2017.

Following revelations of sexual harassment in the film industry, many attendees wore black or a badge to show their support for the Time's Up movement.

[1] The nominees were announced on 9 January 2018 by actresses Natalie Dormer and Letitia Wright.

[2] The Shape of Water received the most nominations in twelve categories; Darkest Hour and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri followed with nine each.

[3] As with the 75th Golden Globe Awards, there was criticism for the lack of female nominees for Best Director, with Greta Gerwig notably not nominated for Lady Bird.
