Anjaparavanda Bopaiah Subbaiah is a former Indian hockey goalkeeper and coach.

[1][2][3][4][5] He was born in Madikeri (Kodagu district, Karnataka)[5] into the Kodava community.

[6][7] He played hockey for his school, St. Michael's Madikeri, as a fourteen year old.

[7] He was a product of Sports Authority of India (SAI) hostel, Bangalore.

[7] Subbaiah was conferred with an honorary doctorate from the Mangalore University by Hans Raj Bhardwaj, Governor of Karnataka.
