It is a regional competition, that is contested between teams from six countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.
[1] In 2017, the first edition of the ABA Super Cup took place in Bar, Montenegro, where Cedevita became champions.
Teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia previously played in a similar competition, when they were part of SFR Yugoslavia.
On 29 June 2020, the ABA League Assembly canceled the 2020 tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
