Abdullah Ghaleb Barghouti[1] (Arabic: عبد الله البرغوثي, born 1979[citation needed]) is a Palestinian leading commander in Hamas' armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, in the West Bank.

[2] He is considered by Ynet as Hamas' "engineer",[3] and designed and built weapons for numerous attacks against Israeli civilians.

An Israeli military court sentenced him to 67 life terms[5] plus 5,200 years in prison.

[6][7] The Israeli government refused to release Barghouti as part of the 2011 Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange.
