[7] A groundbreaking ceremony, to signify the beginning of construction, was held on November 8, 2018, conducted by Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
[2][3] Also attending were church general authorities Marcus B. Nash and Edward Dube, along with Daniel Kablan Duncan, the country's vice president and former prime minister of the Ivory Coast.
Designed by FFKR Architects, the temple's architecture reflects both the cultural heritage of the Abidjan region and its spiritual significance to the church.
[7] The temple is on a 0.55-acre plot[10], with its landscaping having trees, shrubs, and flowers,[6] to provide a setting that enhances the site's sacred atmosphere.
The structure stands one story tall and has a single attached end spire with a statue of the angel Moroni,[10] constructed with lime plaster over concrete blocks.
